FAQ

Frequently asked questions

These answers explain how Yappa works, what users should expect before joining live video chat, and which safety habits help keep the platform useful.

Is Yappa free to use?

Yes. Yappa is free to access. Optional coin purchases may be available for profile or chat cosmetics, but the core video chat experience is designed to be available without buying coins.

What is solo mode?

Solo mode connects one user with one other user for a direct live video conversation. It is the simplest mode for quick introductions.

What is duo mode?

Duo mode lets you join with a friend and match against another duo. It adds a social layer to random video chat and can make conversations feel more comfortable.

Do I need an account?

Some features work best with an account, including profile editing, friend tools, public profile pages, coin balances, and duo invites.

Why does Yappa ask for camera and microphone access?

The live app uses your camera and microphone for video chat. You should grant access only when you are ready to participate in a conversation.

Safety and moderation questions

Can I report users?

Yes. Yappa includes reporting tools for behavior such as harassment, nudity, spam, impersonation, scams, or other rule violations. Reports help moderators identify patterns and take action.

Can users be banned?

Yes. Users who violate the terms, create safety risks, abuse reporting, or misuse the platform may be suspended or removed.

What should I do if a conversation feels unsafe?

Leave the conversation, do not share private details, and use the report tool if the other user broke the rules. You do not need to continue a chat that makes you uncomfortable.

What content is not allowed?

Yappa does not allow harassment, threats, explicit behavior, illegal activity, impersonation, scams, or attempts to exploit the service. The Terms page explains acceptable use in more detail.

Profile and friend tools

Public profiles can show a display name, profile image, description, join information, and activity stats. Friend tools let users reconnect after a good conversation, while profile reports help flag abusive accounts.

Coins and cosmetics

Coins may be used for optional shop items such as titles and chat banners. Payments are processed through a checkout flow, and card details are handled by the payment provider rather than stored directly in the Yappa interface.
